Why Exfoliate?

Your body and lips……

The advice to add exfoliation to your facial skincare routine is good, but exfoliation is not just for the face. The skin of your entire body, including the face, neck, torso, arms, underarms, legs, lips, and sensitive - intimate areas, can benefit from regular exfoliation.

Gentle exfoliation removes dry, dull, and dead skin cells, unveiling your beautiful skin. Not only does exfoliation reveal fresh, healthy, and soft skin, it helps to keep your pores from clogging and prepares your skin for a much better hair removal treatment.

Your body and lips regularly sheds dead skin cells, and exfoliation helps to speed that process along. When performed regularly with a gentle product such as one of marlonda currie® organic, all-natural sugar scrubs, exfoliation helps to promote cell renewal, enhance skin tone, improve hydration, and get rid of ingrown hairs.

Do's and Don'ts of Exfoliation

As beneficial as exfoliation is to your entire body, there are a few do's and don'ts to be aware of:

  • Do - Use a gentle but effective exfoliator designed for the task at hand like The Body Exfoliator and The Lip Exfoliator by marlonda currie®
  • Do - Read ingredient lists. You’ll be applying those ingredients to your one and only body, so avoid chemicals.
  • Do - Do exfoliate two to three times a week. Exfoliate the lips no more than two times a week; don’t want to over dry them out. If you have ingrown hairs, exfoliate three times a week, such as every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, is highly recommended.
  • Do - Do exfoliate about two days before hair removal and two days after. This can help prevent ingrown hairs and small red bumps associated with various hair removal techniques.
  • Do - Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of fluids and follow up exfoliation with The Exception-all (Skin Hydrator), if you have ingrown hairs.
  • Do - Use sunscreen. Protect your beautiful skin from the sun's harmful rays.
  • Don't - Don't overdo it. Though exfoliation products are often marketed as "scrubs," don't scrub too hard. Let the product do the work by using a gentle touch.
  • Don't - Don't exfoliate every day. This is too much of a good thing, and it could leave you with inflamed, irritated skin. Never exfoliate on back-to-back days.
